What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method created by Joseph Pilates that works to balance the mind, body and spirit. The method is comprised of a series of mindful movements and exercises that strengthen the core and balance the muscles and joints supporting the spine and pelvis.

Practicing Pilates will improve flexibility and muscle tone while lengthening and strengthening your body from the inside out, leaving you feeling taller, rejuvenated and invigorated after each session!

Sheri Presley is a Nationally Certified and third generation Pilates teacher certified through Dolly Kelepecz and the UNLV Dance Department. Her teaching is shaped by the traditional work of Joseph Pilates, “Pre-Pilates” introduced by First Generation elder Eve Gentry, and her own personal touch to which she brings her clients.

Why Should You Choose Private Pilates Training?

Private training can be intermittent or routine depending on what your goals and needs are. From Prenatal clients, to marathon runners to Pilates teachers themselves- taking private Pilates sessions has an array of benefits.

  1. Personalized Programming

    Our bodies all have different needs and different stories behind them. When you work one-on-one with a teacher you can receive more personalized programming specifically for what your personal goals and needs are. Those who are pregnant, have chronic pain or are recovering from injuries can benefit from private training by being able to work under the instructor’s full attention on the exercises for his/her specific needs without the embarrassment or anxiety they might feel in a large group class. Likewise- a duet session with someone at your level of training is a great way to share focused training.

  2. Goal Setting

    When you work privately with a teacher you will be able to set and meet goals more effectively than if you share your session with 5-15 other people. From the spring tension to the progression of exercises- a teacher who works with you privately will have a better understanding of your body. This allows the teacher to appropriately and continually challenge you safely on the apparatus which means faster results!

    A private session can provide a safe space to communicate and establish trust between a client and the instructor. Pilates is a movement method that works to balance the body, mind and spirit so having an environment that allows you to express yourself without judgement can positively impact your workout!

    In a private setting you receive more attention which will help you understand each movement and exercise better than if you were sharing your time in a group class. Each session serves more than just a workout- allowing you to ask questions or go even deeper into the method more than if you were in a large group class.
